The Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) is an internationally recognized conservation organization committed to preserving wildlife and ecosystems, particularly in the world's most extraordinary wild places. We run long-term programmes in Africa, South America, Asia, and Europe, and work with a wide range of partners to protect biodiversity and implement the Global Biodiversity Framework, including the 30x30 target.
We are seeking a
Coordinator (gn) for Nature-based Finance Instruments
with an entrepreneurial mindset and experience in nature finance to explore, develop and implement innovative finance mechanisms. You will evaluate market opportunities and co-develop solutions with our conservation teams and financing partners—enabling FZS to scale its impact and engage with the private sector.
Aufgaben
Your tasks
- Evaluate and advance nature-based finance instruments such as carbon and biodiversity credits, impact bonds, and other private sector mechanisms.
- Conduct market research and collaborate with conservation teams, verifiers, and NatureTech providers to build business cases.
- Engage with companies, investors, and other stakeholders to promote FZS-led nature-based finance initiatives.
- Support programme managers in designing and implementing finance solutions aligned with FZS’s mission and values.
- Co-develop outcome-based financing frameworks with internal experts and our MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning) team.
- Track and report the performance and impact of implemented finance instruments.
- Develop a flexible organizational framework to guide FZS programmes on nature-based finance.
- Facilitate internal learning and contribute to best practices in conservation finance.
Anforderungen
Your profile
- At least 3 years of professional experience in nature finance or natural resource management.
- Degree in finance, business, economics or related fields, ideally with a focus on conservation or natural sciences.
- Demonstrated understanding of nature-based finance markets and first-hand experience in fundraising for such mechanisms.
- Proven experience in developing or managing nature-based projects/products.
- Strong analytical, research, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities across sectors.
- Independent, well-organized, resilient, and solution-oriented.
- Fluent in English (German and other languages are a plus).
- Willingness to travel internationally.
- Strong passion for conservation, sustainability, and community-based development.
