The company has its origin in the high ethical & sustainable standards of the founders while working with yarn. The founder and co-founder felt that the current textile industry doesn’t offer any high quality yarns which are authentically sustainable. Dog and other pet lovers have a similar thought all the time when caring for their beloved animals: From this wool, we could stuff a pillow or make a pullover. As a dog owner herself Ann Cathrin Schönrock started collecting and working with dog wool back in 2017 while still studying fashion & knitwear design. The organization is built on three bases. The NGO Modus Intarsia e.V. crowdsources the animal fibers and donates all profits to animal welfare. The organisation YARNSUSTAIN buys, develops and produces the yarns and then supplied brands with it. The original project and now brand name modus intarsia sells finished, high quality products made from pet wool to help the end-consumer acceptance.
