Koa Germany GmbH
Über uns
Koa Germany is part of a Swiss-Ghanaian Scale-Up in its growth phase, disrupting the cocoa value chain in West Africa. Koa is the first and so-far only company in the world processing the fresh cocoa fruit in cooperation with smallholders in rural Ghana. Through Koa’s activities, the farmers increase their income significantly and upcycle an additional 40% of the cocoa pulp. As a B Corp, we believe in creating positive change, one upcycled cocoa fruit at a time. From farmers to the planet, we’re here to make a difference that matters, where it matters most. Because caring is cool, and making the world a better place is even cooler.
The cocoa fruit is the chocolate industry's hidden gem and we are on a mission to uncover its juicy secrets. We’re all about making food and drinks so tasty, you’ll want to share it with your grandma (and she’ll probably ask for seconds). Whether it's the best ice cream, a refreshing soda, or a scrumptious snack, we believe taste buds are meant to dance with joy. And we’re sure the cocoa fruit will make them go wild! In recent years, we have established a robust value chain and, by opening the world`s largest cocoa fruit processing factory in Ghana we laid the foundations for growth. Now it is all about spreading the word taste, creating exciting product concepts which will leave people grinning from ear to ear - like love at the first taste.
Are you up for the Koa-coaster? It's a ride of courageous passion, where every twist and turn gets us closer to greatness. Buckle up, embrace the adventure, and apply to make the magic happen.
We've got so many stories to tell.

- In 2017, we had the sparkling idea of how to contribute to sustainable growth in rural Ghana. Koa was born from a sophisticated concept, innovative processes, and a great deal of passion. Shaping a joyful future together. At Koa, we spot the hidden potential to empower people. We discovered that the cocoa fruit has much to offer besides the beans. The fruit lets us increase farmers’ income, create new jobs in rural areas and is a resource for added value for the people and planet.
- 100% transparent extra income for small scale Farmers. Through training with Koa, cocoa farmers gain new knowledge and methods to process the previously discarded cocoa pulp. Thanks to the partnership with Koa, smallholder farmers earn an additional income which they receive on the same day as production. 100% of the payments are verified with blockchain.
- Boosting economic growth. New Jobs in rural Ghana. Most of our team are young workers from the surrounding communities who now have a new outlook on life. Additionally, our team consists of internationally experienced experts, making valuable contributions towards sustainable growth in their home country.
- 40% less food waste for a responsible use of resources. By processing the cocoa pulp, we make use of a natural resource, previously thrown away. Through solar power, we gently remove the surplus part of the fruit. The beans remain unharmed and proper fermentation of the beans for the chocolate production continues to be guaranteed.
- Renewable Energy. Our mobile processing equipment only runs on solar energy. Learn more about our sustainable technology.
- B Corp™ certified. We are a Certified B Corporation™ which means that we’re part of a community of companies using business as a force for good while meeting high standards of social and environmental impact. As an impact-driven organisation, we have locked our mission into our legal DNA and are excited to continue on our growth path while demonstrating responsibility towards people, planet, and profit.
- No Poverty. By collaborating with us, small-scale farmers increase their income. Our staff receive fair salaries and operate under attractive working conditions.
