Habibi.Works
Über uns
Rooted in the mission of fostering resilience and self-empowerment, our makerspace aims to provoke a paradigm shift in how we approach aid. Rather than passive recipients of assistance, individuals within and beyond the asylum process become active agents in their own lives, makers of their own solutions, and dreamers of their own futures. Our makerspace reframes the narrative of “people in need” to one of “resilient and talented individuals” by providing the tools and knowledge for self-sufficiency, transforming lives and fostering a sense of community, purpose, and hope. It’s a testament to the power of individual potential and a symbol of collective empowerment in the face of adversity.
Solidarity stands at the very core of our actions. Therefore, we aim to reframe the prevalent narrative about people on the move from “people in need” to “resilient and talented individuals”. We deeply believe that every person is the expert of their own life. Everyone knows best what it is they need. In consequence, we work with people at eye-level by providing spaces in which they can implement their own ideas and create the solutions they envision. Trust lies at the base of everything we do and in order to foster and protect it, we hold ourselves to high standards of transparency and fairness. In Habibi.Works, people not only create products and regain agency, but they also build community and a sense of belonging. Since the beginnings of the project in 2016, Habibi.Works has proven that challenges around migration can be tackled with a resourceful, constructive approach.
