The Climate Media Factory UG originates from an interdisciplinary media lab run by the Film University Babelsberg "Konrad Wolf" and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. Merging the expertise of climate scientists, media scholars, authors and producers allows for a media creation process that prevents translation difficulties at the science-media interface. We strive towards reconciling the communication needs of scientists and the audiences’ needs to understand the complexity of topics that are relevant in their everyday life. Since our foundation in 2011, we develop scientifically sound and entertaining climate media like animation videos, documentaries, games, education tools or web-based applications. The Climate Media Factory has provided award-winning solutions to governmental institutions (national ministries in the UK, the Netherlands and Germany), internationally operating bodies like the German Corporation for International Cooperation, NGOs (WWF) or institutions interfacing science and policy (IASS, WBGU).
