Intro
Are you a creative thinker with a keen eye for detail? Do you enjoy systematically developing websites? If you possess strong web development skills, have a good sense of design and user experience, and enjoy managing projects while coordinating interdisciplinary teams, then this opportunity might be perfect for you!
About us
Agora Energiewende, Agora Industry and Agora Agriculture are part of the Agora Think Tanks, united in the mission to achieve climate neutrality by mid-century. We collaborate closely with key stakeholders from politics, business, science, and civil society. With approximately 180 employees across four locations worldwide, we combine research, dialogue, and public outreach in our everyday work. Our primary language for internal and external communication is English. We publish our work as studies and various publications, and maintain dynamic websites and social media channels. We are independent, free from economic or political party interests, and are funded by grants from foundations and public institutions.
To ensure continuity during a parental leave period, we are looking for a:
Web Developer (gn)
as parental leave substitution
to join our headquarters in Berlin (Hackescher Markt) as soon as possible. This position can be part-time or full-time (minimum 32 hours/week). You will be part of a dedicated, collaborative team and work closely with colleagues from different departments in a non-profit environment.
Aufgaben
- Contributing to full-stack website development, including modern front-end implementation and back-end integration with our CMS and data infrastructure;
- Developing and maintaining our internal component workspace (currently Pattern Lab);
- Designing and implementing new website features and tools, including creating mock-ups;
- Managing projects independently, serving as the key interface between the communications department, IT, and our data team;
- Communicating web-related topics within the organisation, including conducting training sessions; and
- Collaborating closely with external service providers.
Anforderungen
You bring several years of professional experience, ideally in a team that has tackled large-scale web projects. User-friendliness and “mobile-first" principles are already part of your day-to-day work. Additionally, you offer:
- Excellent skills in front-end technologies, including HTML5, modern CSS, and JS/TS fundamentals; experience with Angular is a plus;
- Solid understanding of PHP development, preferably with exposure to PHP-based content management systems;
- Nice-to-have: experience in relational database; knowledge of TYPO3 development;
- Solid experience with Git-based workflows and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment;
- Attention to detail in design, including experience with common design and prototyping tools;
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills;
- Experience in project management and coordinating interdisciplinary teams;
- Creativity and strategic thinking to drive and implement innovative ideas;
- Good command of German and excellent English skills.
We assume that there are excellent candidates for the job who do not meet all the criteria in the description. Maybe you have certain skills we haven’t thought of yet? Tell us why you are the right person for the job.
Benefits
- An opportunity to work in a mission-driven, highly motivated, and international team in an important position;
- A cooperative working atmosphere with flat communication and decision-making hierarchies;
- Flexible working hours and a hybrid work environment, with access to an attractive office space in central Berlin and a good setup to work from home;
- Weekly breakfast, team events and other get-togethers with colleagues from around the globe;
- One option from our benefit basket (e.g. Jobticket, Urban Sports, Shopping Vouchers, etc.);
- Opportunities for professional and personal development and advancement, including access to a mental well-being platform;
- Assistance with the visa process for international candidates;
- Entitlement of 29 paid leave days per year (5-days working week); 24th & 31st December off-work;
- A full or part-time role with initially a one-year employment contract.
